How to get to
You'll find direct flights from most East Coast hubs (including Boston) to Providenciales International Airport (PLS). However, seasonal schedules can reduce frequency.
Recommended For (families, couples, corporate, celebrations, etc)
The island has a laid back luxury vibe with plenty of options to celebrate a special occasion; have fun in the sun with a multi-generational family; or getaway for a romantic or relaxing couples vacation.
Not-to-be-Missed Experience or Activity
Relaxing on the pristine white sands of Grace Bay and looking out over the sparkling turquoise water is hard to beat.
Other suggestions include:
*Horseback riding on Long Bay Beach - (contact Provo Ponies)
*Captain Oak's Floating Tiki Bar - accessible by water taxi, jet ski, or boat
*Deep-sea or bone fishing
*Charter a boat to snorkel at any reef or to visit an uninhabited island
Favorite culinary aspect of the hotel or region
Sunset dinner on the beach at The Palms. Chef Sekar prepared a fabulous 5-course meal (dare I say, Michelin quality). Each course brilliantly paired with a wine selected by the resort's sommelier (Mark) and served by a delightful staff. Needless to say the setting was breathtaking. Hidden gem - Thai Orchid (Looks like a hole-in the wall, but some of the best Thai food I've ever tasted. Great spot for lunch when you need a break from the beach or shopping.) With bountiful breakfast buffets, fun pool and snack bars, and gourmet restaurants, there's no need to leave either property (although every resort claims their restaurant is the best on the island). Parallel 23 (The Palms), The Almond Tree (Shore Club) and Sun-Rei (Shore Club) offer distinctively different cuisines and none of the three will disappoint.
Favorite Wellness aspect of the hotel or region
The Spa and Fitness Center at the The Palms certainly delivers on its promise of relaxation and rejuvenation. (25,000 square foot tranquil state-of-the-art facility and equipment, complete with an infinity pool surrounded by 10 private treatment cabanas, steam rooms and saunas, private outdoor showers, yoga studio, locker rooms, pro shop, and professional staff.)
Favorite amenity
Having a balcony overlooking the ocean is a MUST! Other room categories are available (e.g. pool view, garden view, etc.), but sitting on the balcony overlooking the bluest water I've ever seen was truly the highlight of my trip and an image I'll never forget.
Kudos to: *refers to a guide, chef, member of hotel team, etc. that went out of their way
Ling Riley - our host from the Hartling Group; Jeff Morgan - GM at The Palms; Chef Sekar at The Palms (and Mark the sommelier); and Naji Esta - GM at The Shore Club all made time for us throughout our visit and were very helpful. More importantly, kudos to their respective staffs. The teams at The Palms and The Shore Club were smiling, hospitable, and exuded a sense of pride in their work - characteristics noticeably absent in other properties I visited on the island.
Additional Remarks
In addition to The Palms and The Shore Club, I also arranged site visits at the following properties and would be happy to share my impressions with anyone on the team.
The Sands, Seven Stars, Wymara and Wymara Villas, Grace Bay Club, Rock House, The Ritz Carlton, and Ambergris Cay - a private island resort.
Please list the Virtuoso amenities and any other special touches they add for our clients
At either The Palms or The Shore Club, the Virtuoso amenities are pretty standard:
*Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability (excludes upgrades from Junior Suite category)
*Daily Breakfast for up to two guests per bedroom
*$100 USD Equivalent Resort or Hotel credit to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)
*Early Check-In / Late Check-Out, subject to availability
*Complimentary Wi-Fi
However, I also received fresh fruit, Prosecco, and a nice note from the GM upon arrival. It was a very nice touch.
