Founder Kristin Chambers Just Back From Ireland; Exploring the Wild Atlantic Way - Multi generation

Destination

Explore Ireland slowly on the west coast. We spent three nights Galway, a night in Doolin, then settled into Killarney area for four nights.

How to Arrive

Shannon airport accepts flights from certain east coast gateways, including Boston & New York. Otherwise, you can fly into Dublin, and drive 3 hours across Ireland to west coast.

Accommodations

Glenlo Abbey (Galway), Doolin Inn, Aghadoe Heights (Killarney area)

Recommended For

Ireland is great for families, especially teens (more adventure than you think!). Multi generational, couples traveling together.

Not-to-be-Missed Experiences

While at Glenlo Abbey, a falconry experience with master falconer Jason is a must. While other properties offer this experience, Jason is a true leader in fishing and game and has personally trained over 80 mighty birds. It doesn't end there; his knowledge on fishery and game, and the region's wildlife and parks is unparalleled. While also in Galway area, I had the opportunity to learn the art of Irish Step Dancing with a 15 year veteran lead of Riverdance. Brillant!

While in Doolin area, seeing the Cliffs of Moher from the sea, rather than from above.

In Killarney, be sure to take time to explore Killarney National Park weather by biking, boat, or horseback.

Visiting with one of the last crystal carvers that provide the top tasting glassware to the main Whiskey houses. Exploring Ivy Cliff Cave, and fishing in Lough Corrib with a top fishing guide

Favorite Culinary/Spirit Aspect

Spending time visiting a local purveyor of oysters and tasting oysters pulled right from the sea!

From there, off to a master Whiskey blender and learned about the rich history of Irish Whiskey, while seeing the world's largest Irish whiskey collection.

P.S. We have access to the Jameson family who can invite you into their home for a proper Irish welcome and share a whiskey.

Favorite Wellness Experience

A facial with Deborah at Aghadoe Heights. One of the most knowledgeable professionals I've come across.

Favorite Amenity

As we were celebrating a special occasion, Aghadoe Heights arranged a pre-dinner private cocktail hour in their top suite, which has the best view in Killarney of the Killarney National Park.
