Families, couples, girls trips, and celebrations.
Not-to-be-Missed Experience or Activity
Enjoying a scenic afternoon around Newport in a classic car from Newport Classic Car's. Options range from a relaxing 1hr drive, to adding a bottle of champagne at sunset, or even an extended day including a picnic lunch and game of croquet (playing off the mansions gilded-age past.
The Green Hour | Hidden Bar Absinthe Experience
Step behind the scenes of the mansion for an exclusive, invitation-only experience inspired by Lady Elsie Vanderbilt's most closely guarded secret. After receiving the secret skeleton key, step into this hidden room and learn the fascinating history of absinthe as you're guided through a private tasting and thoughtfully paired bites.
Favorite culinary aspect of the hotel or region
The Newport Lobster Shack is a must. Always our first stop when arriving into town. The Shack sits waterfront at the end of Long Wharf and only sells what they catch. Get there early!
Cocktail and apps on The Roof Deck are also must. Sweeping city views and hearty appetizer portions. The perfect place to enjoy sunset over Newport Harbor.
Favorite Amenity
On arrival, guests are offered a welcome glass of wine from a local winery - white, red or rosé. A fun start for a weekend getaway!
Kudos to: refers to a guide, chef, member of hotel team, etc. that went out of their way
Kuddos to the whole team for making our first travel experience with a 7 month old easy and welcoming. The concierge team and breakfast team in The Conservatory went above and beyond with local recommendations, which beaches were easiest to access, smooth stroller routes, and more.
Additional Remarks
I appreciate the history of the mansion and am happy they kept to the Gilded Age times. It's a true hidden gem, tucked into a side street just 2 blocks from bustling Thames Street.
Walking through the front doors, guests are welcomed by the iconic double staircase. Continue through, and you're transported back in time through moody rooms, timeless vintage touches, and eclectic pieces throughout. With only 33 rooms and suites, you feel at home in the middle of town.
The outdoor pool and dining space, plus rooftop bar, make it the perfect Summer escape.
